Awards & PawPaw's Birthday

The month of January has flown by.  The girls are settled back in school after the break and it's been really warm so they have been able to play outside quite a bit, too, after school and on the weekends.  They have also been learning to ride their bikes without the training wheels.  Autumn has been scared of no training wheels and she finally built up the confidence and can ride like she has been doing it for years!  Shelby is almost there- still working out the steering and petaling at the same time but she'll have it soon.

Here's a link to Autumn riding her bike for the very first time by herself:

They recently had an awards ceremony at school and both girls received an award for being on the "A Honor Roll" last semester.

Shelby is doing really well in Kindergarten.  She is reading now and also doing great with spelling and math.

Autumn is really shining in 1st grade, too.  She is reading chapter books and taking tests on them.  She is doing great with her spelling and math, too.  She was recently accepted into the Gifted & Talented Program and starts that this coming week.  She will be bussed to another school once a week for most of the day.  We also just learned that she will still be able to do PE & Music at the other school and they are going to be rollerskating which will be fun!  She found out that she has two friends in her grade that will be going, too, so she is excited about that.

We celebrated Corry's grandpa Dutch's 82nd birthday this past weekend.  All of the cousins had lots of fun playing.  It's sweet that no matter how long they have to play together, they are always begging for more time!  We were there for 5-6 hours and they still wanted to continue playing together at our house- it was a school night, though, so their fun had to come to an end.
Travis is always surrounded by girls with us...he did at least have Corry & Derik's cousin Dustin's son to play with this time.
