Allergy Update

Shelby had her appointment with the allergist today. He really thinks many of her symptoms sound reflux-related (paleness, irritable, giant tonsils & adenoids) and said he often sees that. The only thing that doesn't fit is the rashy bumps, so he did a skin test and tested for milk, egg, wheat, chocolate, and peanut allergy. Everything came back negative. He also drew blood for wheat & gluten but said that it is not common for those to come back positive if the skin test was negative. We're supposed to have the results back by Friday.

So the bumps remain unexplained and reflux may be to blame for the rest. We've known she has reflux but she's never taken medication for it because it has never seemed serious enough to warrant medication. I'm glad to hear that it is probably just reflux because that can be pretty easily controlled through diet. I had gotten lax about letting her eat oranges and was making her orange juice or lemonade with the juicer we bought at Christmas. Maybe controlling her diet a little better with reflux in mind will help. The doctor asked if the bumps ever seemed to bother her and we told him no. He had a good point when he said that as long as the breakout was mild and didn't seem to be bothering her, it was okay to feed her that food. She may just have a mild sensitivity to certain foods.

So, it was a good appointment and Shelby is a happy camper because she can eat all of her favorite foods again!

Praise God!!
My kids are sensitive to ranch dressing and get all red around their mouths when they eat it, but we still feed it to them.
Do you already do dye and fragrance free laundry detergents with their sensitive skin? I know it's more likely a food, but it might be good anyway.

I didn't even think of that.
Jake is the same way with his Reflux. He has bad skin issues and the paleness and throwing up and very sensitive skin. My friend said that Reflux is often seen with Excema. We have a GI appointment coming up to see what is going on and to make sure there isn't any damage going on since he has the Lung issues as well related to it. I hope it calms down for her soon. Email if you need help with it.
