Shelby's cast

Shelby had her appointment with the Orthopedist today and got to pick a pretty pink cast. She did great with the doctor and sat on the table letting him wrap her arm. He said it wasn't too bad because when he took the splint off she was able to rotate her hand from top to bottom with no problem. She has to wear the cast for 4 weeks and then will have a brace that we can take off for baths for another couple of weeks. All in all it doesn't seem to bother her very much. When we ask her how her hand feels she says it hurts a tiny bit and she demonstrates with her fingers that it only hurts a little bit. Only once has she said that it hurt a bunch, bunch and showed a great big space with her hands.

Sorry to hear about her accident! At least the cast is cool and she's not in too much pain. :o)

Aww, so what do you have to do at bathtime? Cover it up? Good thing it happened in the winter... you don't have to keep her out of the swimming pool. She looks so grown up in these two pics.

We wrap it with Saran wrap and don't put a whole lot of water in the tub. Corry held her arm up for me last time while I washed her because she has a hard time remembering to keep it out of the water. We haven't bathed with the cast yet but I think it will be a little better since it doesn't soak up water like an ace bandage and splint would.
I am so glad it's not during swimming weather. We actually do swim at our rec center in the winter, though, and were about to start going again. Not for another month now!

Haven't heard from you in over 8 days. In blog-reader world, that's an eternity. Hope you are well, friend!
