Carly's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Carly's 1st birthday on her actual birthday, March 17th.  We had a family party at home.  Corry made shrimp creole and boiled shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, and potatoes.  I had fun making her a pastel rainbow cake that turned out really pretty.  We had one glitch when we discovered that the air conditioner wasn't working around three o' clock on the day of the party.  Luckily we have a window unit in the game room and it kept it plenty cool.  Carly also woke up sick on her birthday so she wasn't quite her spirited self.  She was a trooper, though, even with fever.

The Birthday Girl

She got a new swing for her birthday but she isn't too fond of it yet.

I also had fun decorating for her party.

The microphone always comes out at birthday parties!  Shelby sang Taylor Swift's "Never Grow Up" for Carly.

Her first taste of the cake.

She wasn't sure about getting her hands in it at first but eventually dug in.

I didn't get a very good picture of the inside but it looked pretty inside!

She was dirty but not too bad!
Present time!  In addition to the swing, wagon, and laugh & learn puppy, she got several new outfits, bathtoys, and money.  Her sisters put together a little basket, too, and made her a sweet card.

Happy Birthday Carly June!  We are all so in love with you.  You have us all wrapped around your little fingers.  We love you!

Love the cake!
And love the idea of having a seperate smash cake- looks like she stayed pretty clean though :-) Makes me tear up a little to think how fast her first year went- and knowing that Charlotte's will go just as fast.
Please, please can't we pause or at least slow down a little. This emotional momma just can't handle it.
